I was just to makew a point and also bring your and other colleague’s attention towards a bigger issue, in fact the owners are behind this episode and release of a private video on GEO and DAWN and News1 in my view is unethical and part of the internal feud. people who are responsibe for this have also brough bad name to the media industry and people like us alongwith these paratroopers (Anchors). پاکستان فیڈرل یونین آف جرنلسٹس نے عامل صحافیوں کی ایمانداری اور دیانتداری پر اٹھائے جانے والے سوالات اور انہیں مبینہ طور پر کرپشن میں ملوث کرنے پر گہری تشویش کا اظہار کیا ہے۔ پی ایف یو جے نے اپنے ایک بیان میں بحریہ ٹاؤن کے مالک اور پراپرٹی کے ٹائیکون ملک ریاض سے کہا ہے کہ وہ ان صحافیوں کی فہرست تمام تر ثبوتوں کے ساتھ فراہم کریں جنہیں مالی فائدہ اور دوسری مراعات دی گئیں ہیں۔ پی ایف یو جے کے صدر پرویز شوکت اور سیکریٹری جنرل امین یوسف نے صحافی برادری کے خلاف جاری مہم کو انتہائی افسوسناک اور قابل مذمت قرار دیا اور کہا کہ اگر کسی صحافی نے انفرادی طور پر کوئی مالی مفادات حاصل کئے ہیں تو ان کے ثبوت پی ایف یو جے کو فراہم کئے جائیں۔ ان رہنماؤں نے کہا کہ اس وقت عامل صحافی بے انتہا دباؤ میں ہیں اور الزامات کی موجودہ صورتحال سے اس پیشہ سے وابستہ ایماندار افراد کے لئے مزید مشکلات پیدا ہو رہی ہیں۔ انہوں نے کہا کہ کرپشن کے الزامات نے ایماندار اور دیانتدار صحافیوں کو پریشان کردیا ہے۔ اس لئے ضروری ہوگیا ہے کہ ان صحافیوں کے ناموں سے آگاہ کیا جائے جو کہ کرپشن میں ملوث ہیں۔
پی ایف یو جے کے رہنماؤں نے ملک ریاض سمیت تمام افراد اور اداروں پر زور دیا کہ وہ پی ایف یو جے کے ساتھ تعاون کریں تاکہ صحافت کی آڑ لینے والے کالی بھیٹروں کو بے نقاب کیا جاسکے۔
پی ایف یو جے کے سیکریٹری جنرل امین یوسف نے سپریم کورٹ سے اپیل کی کہ وہ بحریہ ٹاؤن کے ملک ریاض کو اس بات کا پابند بھی کرے وہ ان صحافیوں کی فہرست عدالت کے سامنے پیش کریں جنہیں مبینہ طور
پر مالی مراعات دی گئیں ہیں اور یہ بھی بتایا جائے کہ یہ پیسہ کیوں اور کب دیا گیا۔

KARACHI: Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists has expressed its deep concerns over rising questions on journalists integrity and their being indulged in corruption as uttered by Riaz Malik, the real estate tycoon who is at loggerhead with the judiciary.

PFUJ in a statement called upon Mr Malik to provide the lists with reasonable evidences against those journalists to whom he obliged in monetary terms or otherwise.

PFUJ President Pervaiz Shaukat and Secretary General Amin Yousuf said that the claims of Mr Malik regarding the journalists are highly condemnable if not true. And if it was true what he claimed he should come up with concrete evidences.

They observed that the profession was facing tremendous pressure from state and non-state actors already. The new accusation has pushed it further deep into hot waters.

“The corruption charges are certainly a big challenge for upright and honest journalists,” said. President PFUJ“But we will go to the maximum extent to condemn those who committed moral or financial corruption.”

“We will be obliged if Mr Malik could provide us with the names of the journalists who were involved in the corruption so that we could cast off the black sheep from our ranks,” Amin Yousuf said.

TV anchors caught conspiring in off-air studio talk

ISLAMABAD: The conspiracy against the judiciary is unfolding as a connection between the media, the tycoon and prime minister’s son has been established through mid-break discussion videos leaked by Dunya TV staff.

Mubashir Lucman is known by all and sundry in media circles for his closeness to former military dictator Pervez Musharraf and for numerous campaigns he ran against the movement of lawyers, the restoration of an independent judiciary and especially his venom against the-then deposed Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry. This person appears to be the prime character in the conspiracy along with Mehr Bokhari, who too joined the media through a ‘parachute landing’, and Malik Riaz Hussain of Bahria Town.

Behind the scenes footage showing Lucman and Mehr Bokhari talking to Riaz during their show has surfaced on YouTube and some mainstream TV channels under the title ‘Malik Riaz Planted Interview with Mehar Bokhari and Mubashir Lucman on Dunya TV’. It establishes the connection of the prime minister’s son with the whole Malik affair, attempt of Mian Nawaz Sharif’s daughter attempt to get a favourable comment from Malik Riaz and last but not the least, how a few so-called anchors could stoop so low before a huge business tycoon.

The involvement of the owner of Dunya TV cannot be ruled out in this conspiracy, as there were strict instructions from him to the anchors not to interrupt Malik Riaz. Mian Amir was also named by Lucman that he had pressurised him to conduct the show. It is worth mention here that Mian Amir is considered close to the government circles and his television channel is getting more share than its ranking from the government ads. The videos that have surfaced depict that the so-called anchors were acting like paid servants of Malik Riaz besides Mian Amir.

There are two videos, in one of which Mubashir Lucman is seen receiving a call on his cell phone from Ali Qadir Gilani, son of Prime Minister Yusuf Raza Gilani, and Mubashir told him that Riaz Malik was not letting him name Hamid Mir, the known Geo TV anchor. Later Lucman gave his phone to Malik Riaz, and then PM’s son and Riaz Malik talked to each other.

During the mid-break ‘planning’, Mehr Bokhari told Malik Riaz that she would ask questions relating to the chief justice and Arsalan Iftikhar as Arsalan has told her that he never met Malik Riaz. Malik Riaz agreed.

Malik Riaz also asked the so-called anchors that he wanted to readout some documents, which later turned out to be orders of the Supreme Court against him.

Lucman, while talking about the plots and money allegedly doled out to media persons by Malik Riaz, said that he would talk about the villas gifted to the journalists as he too wanted a house and would demand it openly from Riaz. On one occasion, Mehr Bokhari told Riaz Malik that she would ask a question about the CJ while Lucman saying that he would ask questions from Malik Riaz’s side i.e. the allegations that Malik Riaz has been levelling against the judiciary. All this was being penned during the mid-break.

Even Malik Riaz is seen saying to both the anchors that they should ask questions about his appearance in every deal because he wanted to talk about it. He also dictated Lucman to ask him questions regarding the involvement of other businessmen in Pakistani politics throughout the history.

Lucman told Malik Riaz on one occasion that the chief justice had pre-empted his move to explode the ‘bomb’ and took suo moto notice of the issue. Lucman also told Malik Riaz that Geo TV was running clips that Malik Riaz gets his files cleared by bribing the officials. Upon which Malik Riaz said, “Hamid Mir must be running it because he is against us.” Lucman replied that why he is against you when you have gifted him a villa.

On one occasion Malik Riaz complains to the anchors that all of his questions that he wanted to be asked have not been asked. Lucman also said that to create a hype of their show from 10 p.m. onwards, he would ask a question from Malik Riaz, which would be answered after 10 p.m. “I will ask that you wanted to become prime minister of Pakistan.” Malik Riaz replied that he never desired for any post in the world.

Mubashir Lucman also readout a text message to Riaz Malik that Supreme Court has arranged a room for Arsalan in Balochistan House. Malik Riaz said that he would say this plus he has also asked a fourth question from the CJ. They also agreed that they would talk about the scandals of journalists at the end of the programme to clear Mehr Bokhari’s name.

During the mid-break discussion of the triplet of the programme, which was aired from 10 to 11 p.m., Lucman and Mehr are being given clear signs that Malik Riaz would not be interrupted at any cost and if he wanted to go overtime, he would be allowed without any hindrance. Then both the anchors, Lucman and Mehr, like paid servants, started to make Malik Riaz understand the crux of the code of conduct for judges so that Malik Riaz could easily attack the chief justice regarding conflict of interest issue.

Lucman also asked Malik Riaz to give him information, which is explosive. Malik Riaz replied that he has given so many ‘bombs’ including a fourth question to the CJ. Then Mehr Bokhari and Mubashir Lucman were seen at odds with each other when Mehr announced to ask question regarding Moonis Elahi from Riaz Malik. Lucman even left the set for a few moments and was later convinced by Malik Riaz’s staff. When he came back he said that he would say on air that Mian Amir and Malik Riaz pressurised him to conduct the programme, which he eventually said later.

In the meanwhile, Malik Riaz kept on saying: “Mubashir you are spoiling my programme; for God’s sake come back as you are being unfair with me.” Mehr taunted Lucman that he was acting like a child.

Mehr also told Malik Riaz she has received an SMS from Maryam Nawaz Sharif asking Malik Riaz to say on record that Hamza Shahbaz had refused his offer of a bullet-proof car. Then on one occasion Lucman also said that a person had come outside Dunya TV office and had evidences against Dr Arsalan and that he would say this on air. Malik Riaz also disclosed that only Mubashir Lucman was ‘through’ with his son among the media personalities.

While discussing the affairs of the CJ’s son, Malik Riaz told Lucman that he has invested money on him while Arsalan was repaying it back to someone else. They made a joke of it. In the end, Mehr Bokhari is shown saying that Arsalan Iftikhar might go to Geo TV for an interview.

TV anchor Mehr Bokhari later explained in her show that the programme was not scripted and she had not been under any pressure from any side. However, she admitted that one question might have been planted, but she said in such TV shows it was a common thing that guests and anchors and even some outsiders insisted that a particular question be asked.

Malik Riaz denies giving any money to journalists: Zahid Bokhari

LAHORE: Zahid Bokhari, counsel for real estate tycoon Malik Riaz Hussain, on Saturday said his client had denied giving any financial favour to any media person.

Addressing a press conference here, he said Malik Riaz had not given money or bungalows to journalists. He said off-air footages of his client’s TV interview seemed a big conspiracy and that he would stand by the court against any such conspiracy.

“The whole thing seemed like a big conspiracy and should be unearthed,” he added. Bokhari’s entry into the Lahore Bar Association has been banned for representing Malik Riaz in the Supreme Court.

Bokhari said the law should take its course and hidden faces behind this conspiracy should be exposed. He said the Supreme Court did not give ‘a clean chit’ to any one who showed that there was some material which needed to be investigated.

Bokhari said the list of journalists who had been allegedly given cars, property and cash was published on a stolen Bahria Town letterhead. He said the documentation was bogus and had no legal significance.

جواب کیا دینا ہے۔بس شرمندگی سے گڑ جاتا ہوں۔ اس سے پہلے وزارتِ اطلاعات سے سیکرٹ فنڈ حاصل کرنے والوں کی کئی لسٹیں آئیں ان میں بھی میرا نام نہیں تھا۔لوگ پوچھتے تھے کہ یار تم واقعی صحافی ہو یا ہمیں کارڈ دکھا کر چ بنا رہے ہو۔میں یہ کہہ کر ٹال جاتا تھا کہ بھائیو میں بڑا صحافی ہوں لیکن اتنا بڑا بھی نہیں کہ کوئی مجھے سیکرٹ فنڈ کی لسٹ میں ڈال دے۔اس لسٹ میں آنے سے پہلے اور بعد میں بڑے پاپڑ بیلنے پڑتے ہیں۔لیکن اب میں لوگوں کو کیا جواب دوں ؟ تم ہی انصاف کرو کہ کیا میں اس قابل بھی نہیں کہ بحریہ ٹاؤن کی اصلی یا جعلی لسٹ میں ہی میرا نام آجاتا ؟؟
میرا خیال ہے تم نے سنجیدگی سے کوشش نہیں کی ہوگی !

The fiasco started as #FamilyGate, turned into a #MalikGate, morphed into #MediaGate and suddenly I was thrushed into a weird fiasco which I choose to call as #TwitterGate. Unless you have been sleeping under a rock im sure you must have read Pakistans obsession with the “Gate fiasco” somewhere along the line, watergate to memogate etc etc, It seems Pakistanis are ready to rename all possible gates in Lahore and beyond
TwitterGate takes birth on the afternoon of 14th June 2012. When suddenly scanned copies of a Baharia Town documents appeared on the social networks, it listed about 19 top journalists to have been allegedly favored by the Bahria town owners in one form of the other, [this release comes hours after the off-air DunyaTV youtube video hits the social network hours earlier]. Upon talking to Abdullah Saad today he categorically says that the image was not posted by him, but instead was a ReTweet of a particular media personality, whose tweet he ReTweeted (new style), when “the media personality” deleted his own tweet, it actually resulted in Abdullah Saad’s tweet also being deleted. The name of the media personality mentioned by Abdullah Saad was given to me but I choose to with-hold the name until I can get his own point of view [I’m paying caution to the wind lest i be sucked in an another circus]

My second facebook update was made at 4:31pm after I discovered that the ProPakistani had only one page [3rd page] and Meri Jan Pakistan had the entire 4-page set on their facebook page in an album titled #MediaGate

After this post almost 29 minutes after from my “first Facebook (ProPakistani) status update” I tweeted the following at precisely 4:34pm on 14th June 2012. This was then also the first time I shared this on twitter and by then twitter was brimming full of these documents, if for an example even Kursed himself had retweeted the particular update well before 4:05pm, to have been picked up by ProPakistani and then to have been re-shared by myself

No where have I been involved in the “release or creation of this list” – I issue an open challenge to anyone to find any link, IP address to find that I personally helped create the list or to have uploaded this document.
The mere fact that roughly 39 people [as of writing of this post] retweeted a tweet after it had already been in circulation prior to 4:05pm does not mean that the blaming finger points to a person whose tweet “was viewed by the most number of times” versus anyone elses’.
If the accusation, that I should have verified the document before sharing – can be the possible debate, but the brunt of the accusation thrown upon me for the past two days, is to have been the “original uploader” &/or “have been involved in the creation” of this list – Which I am neither
The slanderous campaign on Dunya TV and on Bolta Pakistan is uncalled for, as much as they accuse me for not verifying a document, I stand to question them in-turn – these “Professional Journalists” have initiated a slanderous campaign against me without verifying the facts, they accused me of creating the document but did not even so much as care to investigate the facts or the digital trail, two wrongs dont make a right.
Nusrat Javed Sb was mighty irritated on the evening of the 14th on Bolta Pakistan, after having been cyber bullied by many on twitter, Im sure he along with many other anchors must have received a number of attacks, for which he generally has chosen to clump them to have been “directed by PTI”. Nusrat Sb, with all due respect, PTI Social Media team (including me) have absolutely no control over any twitter user, we advocate our supporters to discuss issues with decency and respect but there is no way we can control or censor what a random person might say.

It seems the Twitter and Facebook digital trail ends at or near this time frame Wajahat, Ghulam Mustafa & Asad Kharal were discussing this list almost two days prior to it appearing on the 14th afternoon, it might be best to ask them to clarify the origins of this list?
UPDATE #2 17th June 19:30: Digging a little deeper it seems the Youtube Video that Wajahat & Ghulam Mustafa shared was actually uploaded on 7th of June 2012 [go to the Youtube video and click stats to see the necessary data] the first site to upload it was on a forum on PKPOLITICS – the URL http://pkpolitics.com/discuss/topic/%d8%b5%d8%ad%d8%a7%d9%81%db%8c%d8%8c-%d8%ac%d8%b1%d9%86%db%8c%d9%84%d8%8c-%d8%b3%db%8c%d8%a7 it is now not accessible, and may have been moderated out, while at the same time the user made multiple posts on Twitter, Facebook & Siasat.pk. It seems to be a random user making multiple posts and possibly got moderated. Seeing this tweet I’m furious, this document was circulated outside the Punjab Assembly in front of hundreds of Lawmakers, Not one person had the decency to confess up or point out the facts to Nusrat Javed Sb that this list originated from an individual in the Punjab Assembly.
A so-called jounrliast like Nusrat Javed should have done the necessary research before mouthing off allegations, on me and PTI.
